On the first days of June 2025 I flew to Svalbard, Norway for some sound recording, photography and filming. My good friend, digital artist Filipe Pais, asked my to join him on his new endeavour: Whispering Glaciers, a digital art and mixed-media installation that “invites audiences to explore fragments of Svalbard’s visual and binaural auditory landscapes”.
The project is being developed by artist, teacher and researcher Filipe Pais and videogame designer Erik Geslin – the purpose is to create an interactive audiovisual archive of Svalbard’s landscape, an artistic experience and a warning to draw attention to the increasingly fast and devastating effects of climate change.
Over several days, we braved the cold and the elements to capture images and sounds of Svalbard’s unique environment and landscape, trekking up frozen hills and mountains and going on bumpy boat rides to reach the great ice walls.
All in all an amazing experience. The Arctic is a special place. More news soon.

Durante os primeiros dias de Junho de 2025, rumei a Svalbard, arquipélago norueguês no Círculo Polar Ártico para ajudar o Filipe na captação e de sons e imagens na terra, na água e no ar. Faltou apenas o elemento do fogo.
Ao longo de vários dias, enfrentámos o frio e os elementos para recolher material que nos ajude a dar forma a um manifesto de chamada de atenção para o rápido degelo e o desaparecimento de habitats causado pela crise climática.
